So you wanna be an auhor?

Is it possible to make a living as an author? Yes, it is possible. That doesn't mean you will make a living as an author, it simply means that someone, somewhere, at some time in history made a living as an author.  It isn't easy. Trust me on this. I write books under my name, and I ghost write books and magazine features for people who wish they could write. So, to make a living, I make it appear as if others are making a living as writers. I'm not sure if this is a form of deception, or self -deception.

The nice thing about being a ghost writer is that any negative fall out of what I write doesn't land on lands on the person who paid me to write it and put their name on it.

I also am often brought in to "consult" on various projects for radio, TV and film. They ask my advice, and then ignore the advice. Does it bother me? Yeah, sure. But then I ask myself, "did the check clear the bank?"  Yeah, sure. Okay then.

I have a lot of stuff to write this week, and writers are notorious for not writing. Writing is like sex. We think about it more than we do it, and our thoughts are better than the reality. Thinking is much easier, and no one gets carpal tunnel syndrome from thinking.
